was freesportsbet .com a scam? Were they legit? Did they pay people?
Bernie Maddoff and his pyramid scam paid out for some people. Most scammers and con-artists see the benefit of having a few people that they can point to and say "Hey, we are not a scam, we paid him!". Freesportsbets has changed hands several times, most recently in 2013 when they moved to Sportsplays.com. I'm not 100% sure if Freesportsbet com and Sportsplays are owned by the same person or what. For all I know they may have moved to the new domain and web site in an attempt to rebrand. FSB.com had a very bad reputation so they may have wanted to reopen under a different name in order to draw in more people, people who don't know that they are the same company who ripped them off before. Here is why I feel that Freesportsbet was not legit. Here is how they worked.
- Step 1 - They give you $.10-$1 and you place free sport bets with it.
- Step 2 - This step could take months to years. You build up money by winning your bets. That takes forever though so many bettors/punters did other things to make betting money at FSB. They would pay you a few cents to make posts on their forum. This is a big insult imo. You write thousands of words of content for their site and only get paid 1% of what you would get paid elsewhere.
- Step 3 - If you were lucky and built your free betting money up to $20 you could request a cashout. It really wasn't free cash though, since you wasted hours getting it. They wouldn't simply pay you. You had to win a weekly football pool just to be able to cashout.
- Step 4 - If you got this far they would routinely ask you for copies of your ID, bills and other things that no one wants to send to some shady company. You could send them in dozen of times and they would keep saying they never got them.
- Step 5 - Once your personal documents have officially been received they would want you to send them the personal information of friends and family members before they sent you the $20.
- Step 6 - Naturally it takes weeks or even months for the check to arrive. You just had to hope that it didn't bounce and you were forced to start over.
Is Freesportsbet and Sportsplays.com the same thing?
Many customers have reported that the merger/move to Sportsplays.com from Freesportsbet.com included outright theft. I guess if you had money in your Freesportsbet account only a small fraction of it was moved to Sportsplays.com. Some people reported losing all of their money.
